The Barrie Minor Lacrosse Association (BMLA) takes the health and safety of our players, coaches, volunteers and families very seriously.  The Board of Directors has met and discussed the current situation and will continually monitor and update our plans as COVID-19 plays out.

First and foremost, we will be following the lead of the Ontario Lacrosse Association and the City of Barrie.  The availability of facilities and the leagues in which we play are obviously key factors.  We will also be monitoring the Public Health Agency of Canada for advisories.

Updates will be posted below as the situation changes.

Current Situation – May 22nd, 2020

Thank you to all our families for being so patient during the past two months. As many of you are aware, the Ontario Lacrosse Association is our governing body and we follow their directives in terms of how lacrosse is run. At this time, they have deferred the decision to run or cancel the box lacrosse season until June 15th. They are also encouraging clubs to run House League programs over the summer months if facilities are open.

The BMLA Board of Directors will be meeting virtually next week to determine the next steps for our programs. This will include:

1.) House League program viability for 2020

2.) Rep Box Lacrosse program viability for 2020

3.) Financial Review to ensure the Association maintains a satisfactory financial position to continue to operate into 2021

4.) Refund Policy based on our financial position, expenses that can be recovered and fees/costs paid by the Association to the OLA, Insurance, payment processors, facilities, apparel, jerseys, registration website and others during the run up to 2020.

Again, thank you for your patience and understanding. We are a small volunteer run organization and will continue to do our best to ensure the viability, solvency and integrity of the Association for our members.
