Barrie Minor Lacrosse Association is dedicated to promoting the sport of lacrosse. Our goals are to develop, encourage and maximize fun and fair play and to provide a safe learning environment for all players and volunteers while playing organized lacrosse.
We run Paperweight, Tyke, Novice and Peewee House League divisions. We try to provide House League opportunities for older players as well, however, registration numbers do not always make that possible. Age Groups are listed below.
House League players are on the floor for two hours per week with some exceptions (e.g. weeks with holidays). We provide an age-appropriate mix of practices and games.

For our youngest Bombers, come out for some fun activities and games! Our volunteers teach the basics of scooping and shooting and play some of the classic group games with a lacrosse twist!
Paperweight & Paperweight Select
Join us for some 3-on-3 fun on Mondays and Wednesday! Coaches will take players through the lacrosse basics of scooping, throwing, catching and shooting before taking part in a fun 3-on-3 Mini-Game for the second half of practice. This program has been developed by the Ontario Lacrosse Association to promote fun and fair play at the youngest age groups in a safe non-contact environment.
The Paperweight Select program gives those kids that want to play more competitively an opportunity to get into the Rep Program earlier. Games against other area teams plus tournaments are scheduled into mid-July.
The Tyke Program in 2020 will be adapted version of the 3-on-3 program that the younger age groups play. This is a change from prior seasons. The program will progress from 3-on-3 to use goalies on larger nets and eventually some games using the full floor in a standard 5 vs. 5 format.
Tyke will continue to be NON-CONTACT which means no cross-checking or body checking. Push checks will be introduced during the season.
Full Equipment is required for the Tyke Program this year.
Novice and Peewee Program
The Novice and Peewee programs follow the CLA / OLA rules of lacrosse and focuses on teaching the game in a safe and fun environment. These age divisions do allow cross-checking and body contact. Full equipment is required.
Equipment requirements differ slightly for some age groups. If you have any questions or concerns about equipment selection, please ask a member of the executive or your coach.
Only a helmet, gloves (hockey or lacrosse), clean dry indoor shoes and a lacrosse stick are required. We'll bring the fun and games!
Only a helmet, gloves (hockey or lacrosse), clean dry indoor shoes and a lacrosse stick are required. However, many players do choose to wear additional lacrosse equipment even though Paperweight is non-contact.
* NOTE: The Paperweight Select Team (Rep Travel Team) requires full equipment including mouthguard at all times.
Tyke to Peewee
Full equipment as per CLA guidelines is required for all house league players. BMLA has invested significantly in goalie equipment for our House League divisions and loan it out to interested goalies at no charge.
